Prof. K.R. Ranjith Mahanama
Dean/Science, Senior Professor/Chemistry

Welcome to the Faculty of Science at CINEC Campus, Malabe. Established just two years ago, our faculty is a young and evolving academic community with a clear focus on building a strong foundation in science education, with particular emphasis on Chemistry as a key discipline for national and global development.

From the outset, our degree program has been designed to combine sound theoretical knowledge with extensive practical laboratory experience. Chemistry plays a central role in many sectors, including pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, materials, energy, environmental management, and healthcare. Through our Chemistry Honors degree program, students gain hands-on training, analytical skills, and an understanding of real-world applications that prepare them for industry, research, and further academic study.

Science education, and chemistry in particular, develops critical thinking, problem-solving ability, precision, and scientific curiosity. These transferable skills open pathways to a wide range of careers and postgraduate opportunities both locally and internationally. At CINEC Campus, we place strong emphasis on laboratory safety, modern instrumentation, and the effective use of technology to support high-quality learning and experimentation.

Our academic staff are committed educators and professionals who continuously work to enhance teaching quality, curriculum relevance, and student engagement. As a growing faculty, we actively pursue collaboration with industry and research partners to ensure that our degree program remains aligned with current scientific and professional standards. We strive to create a supportive, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, integrity, and lifelong learning.

As Dean, I am proud of the progress achieved in a short period and confident in the future of the Faculty of Science. I invite students and stakeholders to join us as we continue to develop a dynamic Chemistry-focused science faculty that contributes meaningfully to CINEC Campus and to the scientific advancement of Sri Lanka.
