Officer of the watch Unlimited
This course is for deck personnel who want to obtain Second Mate (OOW) certificate of competency.
On successful completion of the course, candidates need to pass the oral examinations conducted by the Administration for the award of CoC Class 3 Deck Officer. The course meets the requirements of STCW, as amended and is highly recognized by the international shipping industry.

Entry Requirements
Candidates for OOW on ships of 500 GT or more shall,
- have approved seagoing service of not less than 36 months in the deck department on ships of 500 GT or more (If the CDC endorsement does not indicate the Gross Tonnage of the ship, need to obtain a letter from the Master of that vessel, or the Owner / Superintendent, certifying the same);
- have performed, during the required seagoing service, bridge watch keeping duties under the supervision of the Master or a qualified officer for a period of not less than six months; (should have a certificate from Master);
- have completed approved training record book or equivalent training record book accepted by the Director General of Merchant Shipping by the candidates commencing their preparatory courses on or after 01st of January 2017;
- have an eyesight test and physical fitness certificate issued by an approved medical practitioner by the Sri Lankan Administration. At present there are no approved medical practitioners outside Sri Lanka and
- have a Letter of Eligibility (LOE) issued by the Sri Lankan Administration.
