CINEC Rotaractors Support Health Sector to Manage Covid
The medical sector in Sri Lanka is currently facing the most vulnerable and critical period in recent history. As Sri Lanka is passing a critical condition with over 200 Covid-19 deaths and 3000 COVID-19 patients daily the majority of hospitals and treatment centers have already reached their maximum capacity in terms of accommodation and resources. According to epidemiological estimates, a more difficult time is yet to arrive. Thus, the Rotaract Club of CINEC Campus along with the CINEC Campus, Malabe have joined hands with the Rotary Club of Sri Jayewardenepura to ease the burden rested on medical institutions around the country, by setting forth the initiative “Ray of Hope”.
Ray of Hope was organized to equip the newly instated intermediate care center for Covid-19 in Meethotamulla with necessary equipment and supplies. Accordingly, primarily required medical equipment and other supplies including washing machines, water dispensers, water bottles, sanitizer bottles, soap, waste bins, disinfection mats, bed sheets, pillows and pillow cases were handed over to the treatment center at its opening ceremony which was held on 29th of August, 2021.
In a time where tomorrow is not promised anymore, and the world grapples with uncertainty, let us all take heart in the kindness we give each other. It is our duty to give back to the healthcare workers who had sacrificed their blood, sweat and tears day and night to keep our community safe. And it is time to lend a helping hand, when times get tough and hope fades thin.
