CINEC Campus Tourism Undergraduates Stage ‘SILORA’25’ Awards in Grand Celebration of World Tourism Day 2025
In a significant initiative aimed at fostering sustainable tourism and boosting graduate employment, the undergraduates of the Tourism and Hospitality Management Degree of the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences (FMSS) at CINEC Campus are set to stage the SILORA’25 Video Competition Award Ceremony in celebration of World Tourism Day 2025.
The event, which is a key component of the faculty’s commitment to industry-ready education, is designed to ensure the long-term sustainability of Sri Lanka’s vital tourism industry. It also aims to popularise the degree program and, crucially, secure increased job opportunities for its future graduates by connecting them with industry leaders.
The day-long program is split into two power-packed sessions:
Morning Session: Industry Experts Session
The day will commence with an exclusive Industry Experts Session, featuring insightful speeches from five distinguished CINEC past students who have excelled in the tourism and hospitality sectors. This session provides a vital platform for undergraduates to gain first-hand knowledge, practical perspectives, and invaluable mentorship from those who have successfully transitioned from academia to leadership roles in the industry.
Afternoon Session: SILORA’25 Video Competition Award Ceremony
The highlight of the event will be the afternoon session—the grand finale of the SILORA’25 Video Competition, where the best documentary video on Sri Lanka Tourism will be selected. The competition showcases the students’ creativity, research skills, and dedication to promoting the unique allure of Sri Lanka as a global destination.
The final judging will be conducted by an eminent and authoritative Panel of Judges, underscoring the prestige of the competition:
Mr. Upali Rathnayake, Former Director General of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
Mr. Sumittha Kuruppu, Television Director and Manager Post Production of ITN Sri Lanka.
Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe, Senior Consultant at CINEC Campus and former Commander of the Navy and High Commissioner to Australia and New Zealand.
The Faculty of Management and Social Sciences at CINEC Campus remains dedicated to providing a curriculum that is not only academically rigorous but also practically aligned with national development goals, ensuring its Tourism and Hospitality Management graduates are equipped to become the next generation of industry leaders.
